Being on higher ground provides greater vision compared to the player on the lower ground. Additionally, ranged units attacking from lower ground have a 33% chance to miss units positioned on higher ground. In BFME, both aspects are crucial and can decide the outcome of a battle.
In this thread, I will explain the concept and show screenshots of every area on the map that has higher ground. Generally, we've worked on the terrain in such a way that places that appear to be higher ground are indeed higher ground for the most part.
The way it works is that ranged units beneath the blue marks will have a 33% miss chance against units above them. Basically, units on the blue mark/ramp and below count as low ground, while units above it count as high ground. Since ranged units are key to winning in BFME, a 33% miss chance in a battle is significant. Therefore, knowing where the higher grounds are in the game is important, which is why I will provide you with screenshots of every place with higher ground in this thread. First, here is a video showing all this in practice.
And here is some screenshots, starting with bases and then later comes the other terrain.
Both second and third level are higher ground, third being higher then second.
Dunharrow has two levels, the first is on the path up and the second on the top.
And now other areas:
I might have forgot something and i will fill in later if neccesary, beyond that there are some notable places that does not have higher/lower ground and that is both Harad river passings, Osgiliath river passing, Cair Andros river passing, both river passings around Dol Guldur and the river passing next to Lorien.
